I remember being on vacation in the US in fall 2018 and strolling the streets of Los Angeles. I passed by a shop window where makeup products were nicely presented. What struck me above all and remained in my memory was a small, fine detail: a heart, which was incorporated into the products, with the two letters W and A. I did not know Westman Atelier at the time let alone knew who Gucci Westman is. A few months later, I encountered the products again when they were added to the range exclusively at Niche Beauty. I have gradually bought some of the great pieces and can only recommend them to you, if you want to treat yourself (you have to reach a little deeper into the wallet for these products).
About Gucci Westman
Gucci Westman is a star makeup artist with more than 20 years of experience. She has worked for prestigious magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, brands such as Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana, and backstage at Oscar de la Renta fashion shows. However, she is best known for her work with celebrities such as Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow, for whom she created unmistakably fresh make-up looks.
Gucci is committed to a holistic way of life and believes that luxury and efficacy, as well as purity, need not be contradictions when it comes to makeup. This principle is reflected in her own beauty line Westman Atelier. The name was deliberately chosen to be generic, so that she can expand the range beyond makeup products at any time – so it remains exciting!
Westman Atelier was launched in spring 2018. At the time, the makeup line consisted of six products and three makeup brushes. Among them were the Vital Skin Foundation Stick, the Baby Cheeks Blush Stick, the Lit Up Highlight Stick, the Face Trace Contour Stick, the Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer and the Super Loaded Tinted Highlight. The products contain nourishing and in some cases even anti-inflammatory ingredients for a natural, radiant look.
All products can be combined with each other and the product range is very easy to use. Something that strikes you immediately when unpacking is the incredibly high-quality packaging – wow! In addition to the chic, minimalist design, the products weigh significantly more than other makeup products.
By the way: You can buy Westman Atelier makeup products in Switzerland at Parfumerie Spitzenhaus in Zurich, for example, or have them conveniently delivered to your home via Niche Beauty. Since the launch, there have also been numerous new product launches, such as a mascara, lip colors and eye shadows.
As I have already mentioned, I am a big fan of the makeup line Westman Atelier. Nevertheless, some of the products convince me more than others.
Vital Skin Foundation Stick
The stick foundation is currently available in 18 shades. Since I have very light skin, I was advised to the shade Atelier 0 (neutral, cool, light rosé undertone) and this fits quite well. The foundation is wonderful in the hand and can either be applied directly with the stick on the face or you use fingers or brush.
I had to become comfortable with the foundation. The texture partly does not blend very well with my skin, which is why an intensive moisturizer beforehand is an absolute must. After a few attempts, however, you get the hang of it, since the foundation should really be worked with specifically to cover selected areas only. It is recommended to apply the foundation directly from the stick onto the skin and blend it with the fingers.
Baby Cheeks Blush Stick
The Blush Stick is currently available in five shades. I bought it in the color Dou Dou, a warm rose tone, but all colors are incredibly beautiful. The Blush Stick can be applied on the cheeks as well as on the lips and can be blended wonderfully. The blush is best applied with the fingers and I am a big fan of it.
Lit Up Highlight Stick
The highlighter in stick form is very creamy and easy to apply due to its gel texture. The highlighter has a slightly bluish undertone, which some may not like. However, I like the effect very much and the highlighter creates an incredibly great glow on the cheekbones.
Face Trace Contour Stick
The Contour Stick is also very smooth in application and has a great shade in taupe for a natural finish. In no time, this stick creates some contour under the cheekbones or wherever you want a little more shape. A plus: The Contour Stick can also be used as an eyeshadow and looks just great.
Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer
When dealing with bronzer, I am very cautious due to my very fair skin. Meanwhile, I have discovered some brands that offer bronzers that go well with my skin tone. The Beauty Butter Powder Bronzer from Westman Atelier is clearly one of them and was developed to suit all skin types.
The bronzer belongs clearly to my favorites amongst other bronzers like such as the NARS Laguna Bronzer (e.g. available at Manor) and the Marc Jacobs Coconut Tantastic Bronzer (also available at Manor).
Super Loaded Tinted Highlight
Available in three shades, the Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter is probably the most hyped among the products of Westman Atelier. The miracle product can be used for contouring, as a blush and also as an eye shadow and creates an insanely great glow.
I own the Super Loaded Tinted Highlight in the color Peau de Pêche and can highly recommend the product and the shade to you. If the price is too high for you, the RMS Beauty Peach Luminizer (available at green lane or Niche Beauty) is a worthy and also very great alternative.
Have you tested Westman Atelier make-up products yourselves already? What are your thoughts?
