From March 31st until April 2nd 2017 the Fashionhotel Spring Edition will take place at the Kameha Grand Zurich. Fashionhotel takes place twice a year; one time in Spring and one time during Fall. During three days a hotel is being transformed into pop-up stores with fashion and beauty brands, workshops, DJs, live music and of course food and drinks. Fashion and beauty brands can exhibit their current collections and products in hotel rooms which creates a very special atmosphere. That way, visitors can discover many well-known brands and individual labels in a unique setting. Mainly you will find young designers and newcomers – mostly local labels – at Fashionhotel.
This year, I attended the pre-opening on Friday night which was very well visited. After being welcomed with a free drink that you received when you’ve downloaded the Fashionhotel App, we made our way through the beautiful rooms of the Kameha Grand and explored the exhibitions. One of the brands I liked the most was Retro Punk, who produces and sells very stylish retro-looking luggage as well as sunglasses. The brand Elephbo (one of the very few brands I’ve heard of before the event) was also amongst the exhibitors. Elephbo uses old cement bags, combines them with finest Italian leather and creates fashionable bags. You can read more about them in this post I wrote about them last year. I’ve also had a very nice chat with the ladies from Ehtiros, which is a Swiss-based brand creating elegant jackets and accessories such as purses, processing raw materials and bath them in natural colors. The most saucy brand I discovered was Sexy Little Bag. They create small bags made from old bustiers which led to discussions amongst visitors, whether people would really be wearing something like this or not. Of course there are many more brands to discover and you can find a full list of all exhibitors here.
